To remove the lens is to see without eyes.
Lenses create distorted representations of three dimensional scenes by rendering them onto two dimensional surfaces. The vanishing point provides us with a point of reference, useful for spatial perception and for understanding our relationship with the environment. It doesn't exist other than to be an approximate representation of what we think we see.
