"La mirada' or 'the gaze' is a portrait study. the photographs were taken over a period of 45 seconds and the resulting 43 photographs were sequenced chronologically. it is a study of the subtlety of the changes in facial expressions that occur, through involuntary facial muscle movements over short periods of times. However much her expression may have appeared to remain unchanged, despite her attempts to remain as still as possible, in real time the truth is revealed. perhaps it is that these changes of expression are in synchronicity with our ever changing thoughts and feelings. the significance of this is directly related to the language and processes of portrait photography and the editorial process.
